Free Photos for Your WordPress Websites

Totally Free Stock Photos

I can go on and on about my strong dislike for stock photography companies and their licensing terms. Anyone who has experience with using photos from big providers knows how complicated it can be to understand and follow their licensing terms. Getty Images (probably the largest stock photo provider) loves to send hefty demand letters to people who violate their license and even sue you. They’re well known for this practice. Therefore, as a result of companies like Getty and licensing terms that can easily harm many people, I think the market for license free images will grow rapidly.

One website I recently discovered is PicJumbo. The creator offers a nice selection of free photo that are great for all types of websites. Most importantly, the quality is amazing! Also available are premium photos that you get access to for $6 per month. Viktor, the creator, accepts donations for his work and I highly encourage users to donate at least a few bucks to the cause. Considering that you’re getting great quality to use with no strings attached, a $5 or $10 donation is a very small price to pay.

There are other image providers that offer free photos for you to use and I’ll update this list to share them and add new ones as I find them. For now, PicJumbo offers the best selection and I fully suggest checking it out.
